Carlos Barrios’ paintings are influenced by his childhood in El Salvador. His father was an archaeologist, and Barrios was surrounded by artefacts and taken to ancient sites. In this context, and in the shadow of the civil war in El Salvador, he developed a figurative imagery that continues in his work today.
