Teresa Mula is a senior cultural woman from Mimili who paints the Kunkarunkara Tjukurpa (Seven Sisters Creation Story).
This Tjukurpa tells the story of the constellations Pleiades and Orion. The sisters are represented by the constellation Pleiades, while Orion is said to be Nyiru or Nyirunya, a bad and untrustworthy man.
Teresa says, “This story is about family looking after each other, and teaching and helping each other. The women are being followed by a bad man, but the older sisters are looking after the younger ones.”
