b. 1928, Broken Hill, NSW. Died Broken Hill, 2006
Pro Hart lived and worked in Broken Hill, where the landscape and characters that surrounded him were his inspiration. Though often painting romantic scenes of the bush and cattle stations, a focus on smaller elements from nature was part of his practice. Dragonflies and ants were recurring motifs in his work, perhaps a way of advocating for ‘the little guy’, as Hart often positioned himself with regard to what he called the ‘art mafia’ of the artworld establishment.
