A significant number of the Mosman Art Collection’s most popular and much-loved artworks have been donated by private individuals.
One of the most generous patrons has been Mosman resident Mr Neil Balnaves AO, who in 2010 donated a valuable and important collection of early Australian Impressionist works to Mosman Art Gallery, which is on display in the ground floor gallery The Balnaves Gift.
Many other key artworks in the Collection have come through private giving, including early Australian works by Margaret Preston, B.E. Minns, and Norman Lindsay through to contemporary works by John Olsen, Ben Quilty, Jasper Knight and Kerry Lester.
All offers of artwork for donation are greatly appreciated, however, works accepted by the Gallery must adhere to the Mosman Art Collection Policy. In the instance that your gift is accepted by the Gallery, then you are also eligible to apply for a tax deduction on the value of the artwork through the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program.
If you would like to discuss a potential donation of artwork then please contact: Ann Shoebridge, Philanthropy Officer, Mosman Art Gallery on t: 02 9978 4164 or e: a.shoebridge@mosman.nsw.gov.au.
