The Curlew Camp Guided Walk is an ongoing project that aims to reconnect the community to the artistic heritage of the Mosman region, particularly the artists of the late 19th century.
The izi.TRAVEL element of this project allows users to explore the Curlew Artists’ Camp in Little Sirius Cove on their personal mobile device. Utilising the global positioning system (GPS) on the device, users are guided through the content of the walk.
Users will be guided along the foreshore of Taronga Zoo between Taronga Zoo Wharf and Sirius Cove Reserve, overlooking the spectacular vistas across Sydney Harbour and exploring the original site of the Curlew Artists’ Camp. As they walk, users will discover the rich artistic history of the Mosman region including the Cammeraigal people, the traditional custodians of this land, the arrival of the Europeans, the development of the Mosman region, and the Mosman both residents and visitors have come to know and love today.
The walk is available on the izi.TRAVEL mobile application on Apple, Android and Windows mobile stores. Download the izi.TRAVEL application and search ‘Curlew Camp’ to locate the guided walk. The walk is available as a one-way tour in two directions from either Taronga Zoo Wharf or Sirius Cove Reserve.
It is best to download the content using a Wi-Fi network prior to arriving at the site. Transport details to each starting point is available in the guided walk content.
