Wander through the rooms and hallways of the imposing sandstone building that houses the Lucy Osburn Nightingale Museum. The museum is on the site of what was once the central section of the original convict-built Sydney Hospital and the original Tent Hospital of 1788. It is the oldest building on the site.

The curator and tour guide of the Museum, Elinor Wrobel, devoted many years to saving and restoring the priceless pieces of histopathology, which had been rotting away in a dusty attic at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for 25 years.

In her efforts to preserve the artifacts, Elinor vowed to go on a hunger strike (nil by mouth!) to fight the imminent destruction of the collection that includes hundreds of unique anatomical specimens from people dating back to the 1890s which are now on display at the Lucy Osburn Nightingale Museum.
