Alister Simpson, AAEA, has long been recognised as the leading equine artist in Australia for over three decades. His celebrated art practice has been underpinned by studies in both art and veterinary anatomy in New Zealand and the U.K.

In his practice, Simpson captures a broad range of equine imagery using oils, watercolours, gouache or pencil. The works include racing scenes, thoroughbreds in classic poses, mares and foals in rural scenes and also the action of the polo field.

Simpson’s skilled draftsmanship and sensitive approach beautifully captures the subtle details and brilliance of these fine animals.
