Kate Shaw's video work Continuum is an extension of her primary art practice in painting which re-interprets notions of what constitutes landscape painting, both within an art historical context and a contemporary social context. The artist creates surreal, futuristic landscapes that refer to notions of the sublime in nature but also reflect a strong sense of artificiality. The resulting works examine the tensions and dichotomies in both the depiction of the natural world and our relationship to it.
