“I approach painting as a critical site for abstraction and inquiry into painting in the expanded field. My practice is grounded in contradiction, mobilising humour and pathos as methodological tools through which painting interrogates its own conditions of possibility. I employ a self-reflexive approach to foreground the unstable relationship between form and content, where moments of legibility emerge only to collapse. By embracing painting’s internal antagonisms, my work produces a state of fluidity that simultaneously critiques and affirms the medium, positioning painting as both object and discourse.
These tensions unsettle visual coherence, exposing form as resistant to resolution and meaning as contingent rather than fixed. In this way, my practice engages with the ontology of painting not as a stable category, but as a dynamic and provisional field, one that remains playful even as it challenges inherited structures of authorship, materiality, and signification.”
