“These are flowers and trees. I paint flowers and trees because I like them.”
Damian Showyin is a prolific artist who eagerly moves between different surfaces, applying synthetic polymer paint to paper, cardboard, canvas, and fabric. When working at Studio A, he is inspired by the myriad recycled materials surrounding him and embraces the natural, raw qualities of these surfaces as the foundation for his work.
Damian has expressed a desire to paint on fabric more in the future. As an established weaving artist, his practice often incorporates textiles in experimental ways.
Damian works out of Studio A, a leading Australian supported studio for professional artists with intellectual disability.
