The artist’s intent with this piece was to portray a memory of a place. The painting depicts the living room of a friend’s share house in Adelaide, but it could be the house you grew up in, where your grandparents lived, or the distant memory of a childhood friend’s home.
In the quiet darkness of the living room, we are separated from the warmth of the dining room and kitchen, which we can almost make out through the glass doors.
