Metaxy is an ancient philosophical concept meaning “between.”
In this painting, the elephant, both monumental and impossibly suspended, occupies a precarious threshold between movement and collapse. Its unstable balance reflects the psychological tension of living in a world that increasingly feels uncertain, artificial, and at times absurd.
The landscape appears natural and calm, yet its fluorescent saturation creates unease, blurring the boundaries between what feels real and what does not. In this space, certainty becomes fragile, and stability is never guaranteed.
A glare of reflected light, acting as both barrier and lens, disrupts clear viewing while creating a space of revelation, where imbalance and uncertainty are most acute. Here, what is illuminated and what is concealed constantly shifts. Within this unstable field, the search for truth becomes an act of balance, an ongoing negotiation between distortion, uncertainty, and what remains real.
