Saudade (a Portuguese word) embodies a bittersweet longing for something both familiar and elusive. Inspired by the sensory experience of walking through the artist’s neighbourhood at night, the painting reflects a yearning for something unknowable, yet always present. Painted on a repurposed Irish linen tea towel, the work carries a quiet domestic intimacy, where memory and material become inseparable.
