In Profile: Jill Swart
As a lifelong resident of Mosman, Swart’s work is deeply inspired by the place she has always called home. For over ninety years Swart has lived among its streets, bushland and harbour, drawing endless inspiration from the natural beauty and architectural character that surrounds her. Working primarily in linocut and woodcut, she is drawn to the textures, shapes and quiet beauty of everyday subjects. Whether depicting a familiar home, a native flower, or a tiny creature often overlooked, her aim is to encourage others to pause, observe and appreciate the extraordinary beauty that exists in our everyday surroundings.
