Mosman Art Gallery is proud to announce the touring of the highly successful 2014 exhibition Encounters with Bali: A Collector’s Journey, Indonesian textiles from the collection of John Yu AC & Dr George Soutter AM, to Indonesia’s premier textile institution, the Museum Tekstil in Jakarta, Indonesia. The exhibition demonstrates Mosman Art Gallery's engagement with the art and culture of the ASEAN region and our commitment to develop significant international partnerships and projects. Curated by Dr. Siobhan Campbell, the exhibition showcases highlights from the collection of Dr John Yu AC and Dr George Soutter AM, one of the most significant private collections of Indonesian textiles within Australia.
Encounters with Bali was developed by Mosman Art Gallery in 2014 with support from Create NSW’s Curatorial Support Initiative grant. The exhibition in Jakarta is supported by the Australian Embassy and Museum Tekstil, Jakarta.
The exhibition Encounters with Bali has been supported by Create NSW's Curatorial Support Initiative grant, a devolved funding program administered by Museums and Galleries NSW on behalf of the NSW Government.
