In Locale II Michelle Arnott celebrates her move to a new studio in the Headland Artist precinct, Middle Head, by responding to local structures with titles and /or dates that may be carved, cast, painted or neon lit. As such, these cultural artefacts reference historical and current narratives that may elicit familiarity and nostalgia in the viewer. Within the paintings, strong shadows further add to the notion of the passing of time and crisp lines and creamy paint act as a homage to earlier craftsmanship and enduring elegance.
