Sophie Cape responds directly to environments by physically incorporating them into her artwork.

During this workshop participants will be encouraged to engage with the site through direct observation and interaction including the use of found materials.

List of Materials for workshop participants:

• A3 sized sketchpad
• Graphite pencils, charcoal pencils, ink, gouache or watercolour and palette
• 3-5 large sheets of paper A1 or larger
• or large unstretched canvas either with gesso or without
• A medium to mix with soil (Sophie will bring BondCrete)
• Non-precious brushes in a range of sizes
• Charcoal sticks both compressed and willow, in various sizes including a large size.
• A small range of acrylic or oil paints including white (choose colours that may relate to the site)
• Small range of oil sticks
• 4 empty ice cream containers for water and paint
• 2 litre water container
• Masking tape
• Hat, sunscreen and water bottle
