This annual competition was initiated in 1988 by the internationally renowned artist and local resident Ken Done AM. The Prize is open to all young people aged 12-21 years and is one of the richest Youth Art Prizes in Australia.
Over $14,000 in cash prizes, art scholarships and materials are awarded to junior, senior and tertiary artists who can submit artworks in a variety of art media including; painting, photography, drawing, sculpture/installation, printing and video.
The competition is aimed at encouraging the creative talents of young people and providing a showcase for their works.

Bring two printed copies of your entry to the receipting day at Mosman Art Gallery on Tuesday 21 May 2013.
Maximum of two entries per artist. Entry form must be completed on-line and two printed copies are to be submitted with the artwork on the day of receipting.
The competition is open to all young artists from 12 to 21 years of age (excluding primary school children).
There are three sections:
(A) Junior 12 to 14 years
(B) Senior 15 to 17 years
(C ) Tertiary 18 to 21 years
HSC major works are eligible. Any Mosman Councillor, Mosman Council staff and members of their immediate families are ineligible.
Submitted artworks can be in a range of media including; drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture/installation, textile, video
The maximum size/weight of an artwork is:
> 2 sq metres for two-dimensional works (inc. frame).
eg 1.50m × 1.33m = 2sq metres
eg 2.00m × 1.00m = 2sq metres
> 40kg maximum weight, any medium.
The following methods are acceptable:
No unprotected glass edges or wet paintings will be accepted. Works may be rejected due to poor presentation. All entries should be clearly labelled on the back with title, price (if for sale), category entered (A, B, or C), name of artist, address and telephone number.
An entry fee of $5.50 (inc. GST) is payable for each art work entered. Artists may submit a maximum of 2 artworks. A separate entry form is required for each entry. If artwork is not selected for exhibition, the entry fee is NOT refundable.
The adjudicator will be Sylvia Ross, Head, School of Art, College of Fine Arts (COFA) University of New South Wales. The adjudicator’s decision will be final and no subsequent discussion will be entered into.
Over $14,000 of cash prizes, scholarships and art materials will be awarded.
All works shall be for sale unless marked Not for Sale.
A commission of 33.3% will be deducted by Mosman Council from the selling price of each work sold.
