Random weave basket making workshop with Jan Hook

Artist Jan Hook will teach students how to weave a sculptural form using easy to find natural plant materials. During this workshop students use the simple technique of random weave to make a basket of any size and shape. Details on plant collection, preparation and storage will also be discussed and suitable plant materials will be provided.

Includes morning tea.

Please note there is a 45 minute break for lunch. There are cafes nearby or participants can bring their own lunch.

Please bring:

• Any embellishments you may have to personalise your basket e.g. feathers, shells, seedpods, etc
• Old towel (for wrapping damp plant material)
• Secateurs
• Apron
• Spray bottle for water
• An awl or knitting needle
• Twist ties
• Notebook and pen/pencil
