Wild Women is an exhibition of contemporary prints by artist Emily Shaddick in celebration of International Womens’ Day, 2017.  Through her colourful, humorous images Shaddick explores the subjects of women, gender, diversity and identity through representations of celebrated women of the arts and sciences in history. Shaddick is an artist who seamlessly brings together contemporary concepts with the traditional techniques of silk screen and relief printmaking. Working with the photographic images including archives from the New York Public Library, Emily’s images explore androgyny, gender and perceptions of beauty over time. The artist opens up a dialogue about the varied roles of women and celebrates their social, economic and political achievements through her artworks featuring inspirational and iconic women including Hedy Lamarr and Dianne Arbus.
